Counselor/Staff Application

The Youth Ministry of the Diocese of Eastern Pennsylvania Volunteer Counselors and/or Staff will be selected based on background, expertise, certifications, and references. Applicants are expected to be present without interruption (unless otherwise noted) at the Program/Camp/Event Location for the entirety of the Program. The Counselor Application Form (filled out on this page) and Reference Forms (Clergy Reference, Professional Reference, and Personal Reference forms all 3 provided digitally with links below) all need to be submitted before being considered. Background checks using www.protectmyministry.com (see instructions below) will also need to be completed before a Counselor can participate in a Program, Camp, or Event in Volunteer Leadership (if accepted, this information will be emailed to you and you must promptly complete within a minimum of 10 days). All residents outside PA or any PA resident that has not lived in the state for the past 10 consecutive years will need fingerprinting done as well. An email to notify applicants of their acceptance status and updates on the process and what steps you have left will be sent with adequate time for clearances to be processed. Must be at least 18 to apply.

I will uphold and abide by the Program's rules, and always maintain an Orthodox Christian environment and lifestyle at said Programs.
I will be present for the entirety of the Youth Program I volunteer for without interruption (unless noted differently below).

Clearance Guidelines

OCA Guidelines require use of the online Protect My Ministry program at https://protectmyministry.com. This website enables the Diocese to run a background check on each volunteer. It also requires state-mandated child abuse clearances and criminal background checks to be uploaded in a location where they are available to the Diocesan and OCA administration. The Protect My Ministry program is mandatory, but the camp will cover the associated costs. After you are accepted as a counselor for this season, you will receive instructions about what you will need to submit this year in order to be in compliance. Clearance Guidelines need to be renewed every 3 years. If you have not lived in the State of PA for the last 10 consecutive years, we will also require fingerprinting for full acceptance as a Youth Worker. YOU WILL BE ASKED TO COMPLETE THIS PART LATER IF YOU HAVE BEEN SELECTED - DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DO THIS ON YOUR OWN. PLEASE DO REFERENCES NOW (See below).

 

References

ALL APPLICANTS must have 3 completed Referance Forms: 1) Clergy Reference Form, 2) Personal Reference Form, and 3) Workplace/Professional Reference Form - on file, filled out by their parish priest, a non-family member personal reference, and a colleague/co-worker reference. These forms digital and are due ASAP and should be filled out directly by your priest and other references (simply send them the correct link below according to who you are sending them to). All returning counselors over 21 that have already done this step do not need to repeat this step unless otherwise noted. All 18-21yo applicants need to have a priest recommondation done every year until you reach 22 years of age. If you have volunteered before and think you may have been missed on this step, please reach out and we will confirm your reference submissions. THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT PART OF OUR PROCESS FOR THE SAFETY AND WELL-BEING OF OUR YOUTH!
